Due to COVID 19 we opened up the 2021 Daren M. Hidalgo Memorial Scholarship to all Dallastown Area High School (DAHS) seniors.   We received applications from over 25 well qualified students.  The memorial scholarship award committee decided to provide a scholarship to both Ryan Klutz and Lauren Garcia.  Ryan Klutz played lacrosse, and football.  He was a member of the National Honor Society from ninth through twelfth grade.  Ryan will be pursuing a degree in computer engineering at Virginia Tech.  Lauren Garcia participated in numerous school activities supporting the community.  She was active with the Big Buddy Little Buddy Program, served as President of the Health STAT Club, and was engaged with the school Interact Club.  Lauren was an active volunteer at the Country Meadows Retirement Community of Leader Heights.  This fall she will be pursuing a degree in Applied Health Sciences at Messiah University in Mechanicsburg.  Ryan and Lauren are the eleventh and twelfth recipients of the $5,000 Daren M. Hidalgo Memorial Scholarship.  We wish Ryan and Lauren nothing but success as they embark on their college journey.
